Twenty years of keeping websites fast, safe, and actually working.
StaticFort is run by Michael Carr. He's spent his whole career on the unglamorous side of the internet — hosting, servers, and security. Which is exactly why he's good at making this simple for the trades.
The short version
I've spent more than twenty years building things on the internet — web hosting companies, server infrastructure, security systems, custom software. Somewhere along the way I figured out that the work I care most about is the kind where you can see who it helps.
That's why, in 2024, I went to work for the Town of Carolina Beach. I live here. I walk these streets and know these neighbors. But I never stopped doing the technical work, and I kept running into the same thing: good, hardworking people getting taken advantage of on their websites and marketing. Charged too much, given too little, and handed a site they don't own and can't leave.
StaticFort is my answer to that. Fast, secure websites and honest online presence — priced in plain numbers, owned by you, and managed by someone who actually knows how the plumbing (the internet kind) works.
The background
- Founded AFMU.com in 2002 and grew it to over 5,000 international clients before selling it to Arvixe.
- At Arvixe, served as escalated support manager — responsible for cybersecurity, Linux server hardening, VOIP systems, and knowledge management across thousands of servers.
- Managed customer success at A2 Hosting during a period of rapid growth.
- Built every technical system for his own business from scratch — a custom dealer management platform, a six-platform social media operation, and a 4.7-star customer experience maintained personally, around the clock.
- Formalizing long-held credentials: CompTIA A+, Security+, and Linux+, plus a GIS administration course through UC Davis.
- Works with AI tools at a practical level — API integration, LLM configuration, prompt engineering — and maintains his own repository of AI-assisted tools and websites.
How we do business

No contracts
Month-to-month. Pause in the off-season. Cancel anytime. We'd rather earn it every month than trap you in a year.
Plain pricing
$149 a month, flat. You see the number before you sign up. No mystery retainers, no surprise upsells.
Straight talk
No jargon, no “growth hacking,” no promises we can't keep. You'll always know what you're paying for and why.
Why static
Most small-business sites run on WordPress or a website builder. That means plugins to update, software that can be hacked, and pages that load slowly. A static site is just clean files — nothing to hack, nothing to break, and it loads almost instantly. For a business that lives on phone calls, faster is the whole ballgame.
